First Aid Kits for Ukrainian Journalists: A Campaign Safeguarding Lives and Truth

The situation in Ukraine remains critical due to ongoing Russian aggression. Continuous shelling of civilian, railway, and energy infrastructure poses a constant threat to the lives of civilians and journalists covering events on the frontlines.

Journalists play a crucial role in reporting on events in Ukraine, providing the world with reliable information. On May 3, 2024, the 2402 Foundation announced the launch of a fundraising campaign to procure tactical first aid kits and tourniquets for Ukrainian journalists. This public appeal was prompted by the urgent need for medical supplies for media professionals who risk their lives daily on the frontlines of the information war.

The campaign’s goal is ambitious yet vital – to raise $60,000 USD for the purchase of 400 first aid kits and tourniquets. These kits will provide critical protection for journalists who put their lives on the line daily in conflict hotspots.

“A first aid kit is the basic life-saving resource that every journalist working on the front should have – without it, saving lives becomes much more difficult. Without journalists, we won’t see the truth, and without truth, we are unable to make informed decisions,”– Kateryna Sergatskova, co-founder of the 2402 Foundation.
